Great optics can make or break the hunt of a lifetime. It’s no secret there are plenty of options to choose from when shopping for glass, whether it be a new set of binos or a spotting scope to round out a gear list for an upcoming hunt. Rifle scopes are a category unto themselves. The choices can be overwhelming and a company’s reputation sets the standard for consumer’s expectations and shortens the potential candidate list immensely. A quality scope is great, a quality scope backed-up by a rock-solid company is ideal when hunters are looking to invest in that next piece of critical gear. If you haven’t heard of them yet, allow me to introduce Maven Outdoor Equipment Company.

Maven Outdoor Equipment Company

Maven is an optics company based in Lander, Wyoming that first started releasing their products in 2014 with a straight-to-consumer business model. This cuts out the retailers and passes the savings and quality on to their customers allowing features like top-tier Japanese optical components in their S,B, and RS series to reach a more affordable price point.

“When we first envisioned Maven we wanted to focus on the fundamentals: high-end performance using the very best modern materials and technologies with clean, simple designs–to create uncompromising gear,” stated Brendon Weaver, one of the Maven founders and chief designer. “Add to that the ability to truly customize your gear and we think Maven offers a proposition that no one else in the marketplace can touch and we’re excited to step out on this journey with our customers.”

Through the company’s unique Custom Optics Builder, consumers can choose from different frame sizes, magnification, body armor and details like focus wheels, strap connectors and labeling in numerous color choices.

Want to try before you buy? Maven has you covered, their Demo Program allows a potential customer to request and use a qualifying optic (riflescopes excluded) for up to two weeks when the optic can be purchased or returned (return label included), no questions asked.

Maven also stands behind their products with an Unconditional Lifetime Guarantee. If anything goes wrong with your optic, for any reason, they will fix or replace it. From the Maven website- “We don’t care where or when you bought it or if it was your fault or not – if it says Maven, we will take care of it.”

The Wyoming-based company continues to improve and add to their product lineup, this year offering upgrades to their rifle and spotting scope lines. The RS1.2 is the newest version of the RS1, incorporating an illuminated reticle, capped windage, a true zero-stop and a dialable elevation turret. The new 2.5-15x44 first focal plane scope weighs in at just 26.4 ounces, less than 2 ounces more than the original RS.1 and is offered with Maven’s popular MOA-2 reticle and a new SHR-MIL reticle.

“We continuously explore opportunities to enhance our product offering to meet the needs of customers,” said Brendon Weaver. “The introduction of the RS1.2 is the latest example of that. We incorporated feedback from customers and industry professionals to implement new features into the original RS.1 design that add more versatility to our lineup.”

The S.3 spotting scope is a new addition to Maven’s line of premium spotting scopes. Sitting comfortably between the full-sized S.1 and ultra-compact S.2, the new S.3 features a powerful 20-40 magnification range with a 67mm objective lens in a frame that measures 13 inches and 60 ounces. It also features a detachable eyepiece to offer ultimate flexibility in addition to elite performance. The S.3 is available in both a straight (S.3S) and angled (S.3A) configuration so users can choose an option to best fit their needs.

Whatever your upcoming adventures hold for the new year, if an optics upgrade is needed consider checking out Maven Outdoor Equipment Company, you’ll be glad you did.
